These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Kindred Biographies, an AI-assisted biography service operated by Ailyb LLC (“Kindred Biographies,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By creating an account, using our website, or participating in a recorded interview, you agree to these Terms.
Kindred Biographies conducts voice-based interviews (by phone or web) with an AI biographer, and uses the resulting recordings and transcripts to draft, edit, and deliver a written biography and related keepsakes. Features, pricing, and deliverables are described on our Pricing page and may change from time to time.
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. Accounts for storytellers under 18 (for example, grandchildren participating in family projects) must be created and consented to by a parent or legal guardian. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, including your phone number, and for keeping your login credentials secure.
Your stories remain yours. You retain ownership of the personal stories, memories, and life histories you share with us (“Story Content”). You grant us a limited license to record, transcribe, edit, and use your Story Content solely to provide the Service (for example, drafting your biography and delivering it to you and the family members you designate). We do not sell your Story Content, and we do not use it to advertise to others. You are responsible for obtaining consent from any third parties whose stories you share on their behalf.
You agree not to use the Service to record conversations without the knowledge and consent of the person being interviewed, to infringe the rights of others, to transmit unlawful or harmful content, or to abuse, harass, or impersonate our AI biographer or staff.
Paid plans bill monthly or annually in advance via our payment processor (Stripe). Subscription minutes reset at the start of each billing period and do not roll over unless stated otherwise. You may cancel at any time from your dashboard; cancellation stops future charges, and unused time in the current billing period is not refunded unless required by law. Free trial minutes are limited to one trial per person.
By opting in to text messages from Kindred Biographies, you agree to receive SMS messages related to your biography sessions, including appointment confirmations, interview reminders, session summaries, and account notifications.
Biographies are drafted with the assistance of artificial intelligence and reviewed before delivery. While we strive for accuracy and fidelity to your interviews, AI-generated drafts may contain errors or omissions. You are encouraged to review drafts and request corrections. We provide revision rounds as described on your plan page.
The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ailyb LLC’s total liability arising from or relating to the Service is limited to the amounts you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of data or memories not caused by our gross negligence or willful misconduct.
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or applicable law. Upon termination, we will make your delivered biographies and, where feasible, your Story Content available for download for a period of 30 days, after which we may delete it in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Fairfax County, Virginia.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
